Finishing the edges of unlined doll garments can be challenging because of their small size and small seam allowances. Today I’m going to share with you a technique I’ve learned to make finishing edges a breeze! This method results in a nice clean edge that won’t ravel and isn’t bulky.

Great idea~ Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
What a great idea!! I can’t wait to try it. Thank you for sharing with us all.
If you give it a try, let me know how it works out for you Karen 🙂
I never thought of doing this on doll clothes, even though I’d done something similar in garment sewing many, many years ago. Thanks for this wonderful tip.
You’re welcome Mary. Let me know how it goes!
Great video! I have used this method to completely line a semi-sheer garment too. Tulle can be a little finicky in handling but it certainly gives a weightless, sheer finish!
I’ve never tried it as a lining for semi-sheer garments. Thanks for the tip!
Brilliant idea! I am looking forward to trying it.
Thanks Diana. If you try it, let me know how it works out for you!
I have used this technique but seeing you in action reinforces the technique. I love your videos.
Thank you so much MaeLynn!
Great idea, will try this for sure. another use for all that tulle spools I have collected.
I have had the one I am using for years 🙂
I got an idea just yesterday from watching this video previously. I was making a sheer pinafore for Little Darling. Instead of hemming the sides of the skirt. I decided to use tulle as a lining instead. I cut my measurement, leaving additional tulle hanging below the scalloped edge. After stitching the sides and turning. I carefully top stitched along the scallops through both fabrics. Next I carefully trimmed the excess tulle away. I also used tulle and lined the bodice in the traditional way. End result is a lovely sheer pinafore. Thanks for the tulle tip!
What a great use for tulle! Thanks for sharing that Shirley. I just love looking at your outfits. You really have an eye for it!
Love this!
I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Thank you again for this technique. I am using it on thin material for circle skirts. It is amazing.
I’m so glad it’s been helpful for you! That’s a great use for it. I like to use single fold bias to hem human sized circle skirts, but that would be too bulky for dolls.
