Would you like to learn an easy little trick to eliminate shoulder bulk? This works particularly well for:
- Lined, sleeveless bodices and shirts;
- Shirts and bodices for smaller dolls;
- Shirts and bodices made out of sheer fabric;
- When you’re using fabric with a beautiful pattern that you don’t want to break up with a shoulder seam line.
Making this change to a pattern makes turning through small shoulders MUCH easier. And it’s a really easy pattern alteration to make!

Well, I never thought of making the front and back one piece to reduce bulk. I’ve used patterns that were drawn that way but never thought to do it myself. Good tip and I will try it. It is hard turning 14” doll clothes.
It is hard to turn clothes for the 14 inch dolls! I have the same issue with my Kaye Wiggs and my AGAT dolls. They have much narrower shoulders than the 18 inch dolls.
Wow!Thanks,Traci.So easy to do but this is the first time I have ever heard about doing this!I will certainly try it!Thanks so much for being so generous with your knowledge!
I don’t believe in hoarding knowledge. I have been lucky enough in my life to have some amazingly talented people share their knowledge with me so I always try to pay it forward. If you try it, let me know how it goes!
Great tips! Thank you! Makes a lot of sense.
Glad you liked it 🙂
